NFL CAREER – Evans has been a valuable addition since originally joining the Saints in 2007. Voted one of the club’s season-long captains for the last two seasons, Evans is among the top special teams players on the roster and also provides proven, veteran depth to the linebacker corps. He has led the Saints with 54 special teams tackles from 2007-09. Since being originally being signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Cincinnati in 2001, Evans has appeared in 119 games, with 47 in New Orleans. He joined the Saints after a five-year stint with Houston, where he forged his reputation around the NFL as a top performer on the kick and punt coverage units. Evans’ career totals include 123 special teams tackles and three fumble recoveries. On defense, he has notched 62 stops and an interception.
