COLLEGE CAREER – The first player even selected by the Saints in the NFL Draft from Tarleton State, Johnson will attempt to secure a roster spot, transitioning to linebacker from his college position of defensive end and also seeking to contribute on special teams to take advantage of his combination of size and speed. Johnson finished his college career in 20 games with 19 starts posting 96 tackles (55 solo) 33 tackles for a loss, 15.5 sacks, three passes defensed and one forced fumble. The Dallas native finished his senior campaign by leading the Texans with 17.5 stops for a loss and 10 takedowns, followed by an impressive performance in a college all-star game and his pro day.

2012 – Appeared in nine games with eight starts at DE as a senior at Tarleton State and was tabbed the Lone Star Conference’s Defensive Lineman of the Year and a first-team conference selection, while earning Division two second-team All-American honors, as he finished with 50 tackles (28 solo), 17.5 tackles for a loss of 65 yards, 10 sacks for a loss of 48 yards, one forced fumble, seven quarterback hurries and two passes defensed…Posted three tackles for a loss and a career-high three sacks against Abilene Christian…Recorded three stops for a loss and two takedowns against the University of Incarnate Word. 2011 – In his first season at Tarleton State, earning All-Lone Star Conference honorable mention honors, started all 11 games at DE, as he recorded 46 tackles (27 solo), 15.5 stops for a loss, 5.5 sacks, 11 quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and one pass defensed. 2009-2010 – Played two seasons at Kilgore Junior College before transferring to Tarleton State.

Grady Spruce (Dallas) HS, where he lettered four years in football…Named first-team All-District as a senior and second-team All-District as a junior…Father, Rufus, played football at Texas Tech…Attended same high school as former Saints DB Jitter Fields…Born August 28, 1990.
