NFL CAREER – Signed by the Saints out of Georgia Tech following the 2013 NFL Draft, Sweeting secured an opening day roster spot and contributed on both defense and special teams as a rookie. The speedy defender will take advantage of his first full offseason with the club to compete for more extensive playing time in the club’s secondary while continuing to contribute on coverage units.

Jets, Nov. 3…Produced one special teams tackle on punt coverage at Carolina, Dec. 22…Recorded his first defensive tackle, a solo, in regular season finale vs. Tampa Bay, Dec. 29…Appeared in both postseason games and made three tackles (two solo) and one second quarter special teams stop on kickoff coverage in NFC Wild Card Playoff victory at Philadelphia, 1/4/14.
COLLEGE – Played in 54 career games to tie school record and was a two-year starter, posting career totals of 160 tackles, one sack, five interceptions, 24 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries…As a senior in 2012, recorded 58 tackles (42 solo) with six tackles for a loss, a sack, an interception, seven passes defensed and one fumble recovery, his pick coming against Florida State QB E.J. Manuel in the ACC Championship game…Was an Honorable Mention All-ACC selection as a junior in 2011, when he had 56 tackles (37 solo) with three tackles for a loss, three interceptions, 10 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery…As a sophomore in 2010, played in 13 games and recorded 38 tackles (27 solo) with one tackle for a loss, one interception, seven passes defensed and one fumble recovery…As a freshman in 2009, posted eight tackles (seven solo)…Majored in business management.
PERSONAL – Prepped at Luella (Ga.) HS, where he was a two-year team captain and had 36 receptions for 723 yards with 10 touchdowns, 58 tackles and two interceptions as a senior, earning Georgia Class 5A first team All-State…Uncle, John Henry, played basketball at Oral Roberts…Roderick Hilary Sweeting was born September 28, 1990 in Miami, Fla.
