The Ruston, La. native and Tulane product is a former first-round draft pick of the Washington Redskins in 2002 who has played in 37 games over eight seasons in stints with Washington (2002-05), the New York Jets (2006), Denver Broncos (2007-08), Tennessee Titans (2009) and Detroit Lions (2009). During his career, Ramsey has completed 511 of 913 passes for 5,930 yards with 35 touchdowns and 30 interceptions for a 74.9 passer rating and his teams have a 10-14 record in his 24 career starts.

2009 – Had stints with the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions but did not see any regular season action…Inactive as the third quarterback and active but did not play in another for Tennessee before being released, Oct.3…Signed with Detroit, Dec. 26, and was inactive as the Lions’ third QB for the final two games of the season. 2008 – Saw action as a reserve for Denver in one game before being placed on injured reserve with an injured right elbow on Oct. 22…Made his season debut at New England, Oct. 20, spelling an injured Jay Cutler for a series at the end of the first half. Completed two of three passes for 19 yards before suffering a season-ending elbow injury. 2007 – Played two games for the Broncos, completing 29 of 48 passes for 262 yards with one touchdown and one interception for a 73.4 passer rating. Also rushed twice for six yards…Made his Broncos debut at Detroit, Nov. 4, when Jay Cutler went down with a leg injury in the second quarter and matched his career-high with 29 completions on 46 attempts, which marked the second-highest single-game total of his career, while throwing for 262 yards with one touchdown. 2006 – Acquired from Washington on March 17 in exchange for the Jets’ 2006 sixth-round draft choice and played in one game as a backup, throwing an incompletion against Houston (Nov. 26), marking his only pass of the regular season…Saw first postseason action of his career when he filled in for one play in the first quarter of the Wild Card Game matchup at New England, Jan. 7, and completed a pass for a loss of one yard. 2005 – Saw action in four games with one start in his final season in Washington, completing 15 of 25 passes for 289 yards with one touchdown and one interception for a 95.3 passer rating…Opened the season as the starter vs. Chicago, Sept. 11, but was forced to leave the game in the second quarter with a neck injury…Saw limited action in three other games and did not play as the backup QB in the Redskins’ two playoff games. 2004 – Played nine games with seven starts, compiling a 74.8 passer rating in completing 169 of 272 passes for 1,655 yards with 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions…Led the team to a 31-7 win vs. the N.Y. Giants (Dec. 5) as he posted a career-best 86.4 completion percentage on 19 of 22 passing and threw for 174 yards with three touchdowns (career-high 139.2 passer rating)…Completed 18 of 27 passes for 214 yards with one touchdown in victory at San Francisco, Dec. 18. 2003 – Started the first 11 games before a foot injury forced him to be placed on injured reserve on Dec. 8. Completed 179 of 337 passes for a career-best 2,166 yards with 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Compiled a 75.8 passer rating while posting a 4-7 record as a starter…Posted a career-high 356 passing yards at Atlanta, Sept. 14, completing 25 of 39 passes with two touchdowns for a 110.6 passer rating, in a 33-31 comeback win…Threw two TD passes vs. N.Y. Giants, Sept. 21, as part of his 23-completion, 348-yard passing performance…At Philadelphia (Oct. 5), totaled a career-high 50 passing attempts, posting 25 completions for 271 yards with one passing touchdown and one rushing score. 2002 – Played nine games with five starts as a rookie, completing 117 of 227 passes for 1,539 yards with nine touchdowns and eight interceptions for a 71.8 passer rating…Made his pro debut at Tennessee Oct. 6, when he relieved Danny Wuerffel after two series and completed 20 of 34 passes for 268 yards with two touchdowns…Made his first career start the next week vs. New Orleans (Oct. 13), throwing for 320 yards with a touchdown and a career-high four interceptions.

 

 

COLLEGE – Ramsey played 35 career games with 32 starts at Tulane, completing 798 of 1,355 passes for 9,205 yards with 72 touchdowns and 51 interceptions…Surpassed the totals posted by Shaun King to set school records for career completions, attempts, passing yards and touchdowns…Set a school record with at least one touchdown pass in 31 consecutive games, and his career completion percentage of 58.9 was topped only by Mike McKay (1981-82) in school history…Was one of 16 players nationally to earn a National Football Foundation/College Football Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete award as a senior…Started all 11 games for the Green Wave as a senior, completing 256 of 448 passes for 2,935 yards with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. His single-season yardage total placed third in school history behind his sophomore year mark of 3,410 yards and King’s 3,232 yards in 1998…Established 20 school records as a sophomore, including the single-season marks for passing yards (3,410), yards per game (310.0), attempts (513) and completions (310). His 25 touchdown passes ranked second on the school’s all-time list, and he averaged 304.5 yards of offense per game…Graduated cum laude from Tulane with a double degree in accounting and finance.

 

 

PERSONAL – Ramsey was a two-year starter at Ruston (La.) HS, completing 90 of 201 passes for 1,073 yards with 12 touchdowns as a senior…Competed on Tulane’s track and field team, posting a Conference USA-best javelin throw of 218 feet during the 1998 outdoor season…Participated in several community endeavors as a member of the Washington Redskins and New York Jets. Was a part of the Faith Foundation Harvest Outreach Thanksgiving Basket Drive that helped feed more than 200 underprivileged families in the Washington, D.C. area during the holidays and served as a spokesperson for the Boy Scouts of America National Capital Area troops…Married his wife, Virginia, on April 13, 2002, the week before the 2002 NFL Draft. The couple has two daughters, Virginia Ellen and Jane Margaret…Patrick Ramsey was born on Feb. 14, 1979, in Ruston, La.
