NFL CAREER – After stints with five clubs in his first four seasons, this State College, Pa. native found a home in his first season in New Orleans in 2016 when he appeared in all 16 games (six starts) and posted 62 tackles (38 solo), one sack, one interception, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two passes defensed and a team-best 13 special teams stops. In 2017, he was a core contributor on special teams before suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week Five. The former Penn State standout looks to continue to bolster the special teams units while also contributing to the linebacker corps.

Giants, Sept. 20 and collared five tackles (four solo) and assisted a run defense that held the Giants under 100 yards on the ground…Made his first start and recorded one tackle at Dallas, Sept. 27. Part of a defense that held the Cowboys to 54 yards of total offense in the second half…Scored his first career touchdown on an 84-yard fumble return against Houston, Oct. 4. Also added three tackles on defense and three stops on special teams…Started and recorded his first career sack, dropping QB Kirk Cousins behind the line of scrimmage vs. Washington, Oct. 11. Also helped the Falcons defense hold the Redskins to 51 rushing yards and 2.1 yards per carry…Played at linebacker and collared a tackle at New Orleans, Oct. 15. Helped Falcons defense hold the Saints to 81 yards rushing…Tallied two tackles at San Francisco, Nov. 8…Started at middle linebacker and made six total tackles (five solo) with a pass defensed and a special teams stop at Jacksonville, Dec. 20…Played on 52 percent of defensive snaps against Carolina, Dec. 27, logging four tackles (three solo).  2014 – Played in 15 games as a core member of the Falcons special teams units. Recorded nine special teams tackles (seven solo).  2013 – Appeared in 12 games with San Francisco (five) and Jacksonville (seven) and finished with 10 special teams tackles, making five with each club…Made a career-high three special teams tackles (two solo) at St. Louis, Sept. 26…Made one special teams stop at Jacksonville, Oct. 27 before being waived by 49ers and picked up by Jaguars following week…Led team with two special teams stops in season finale at Indianapolis, Dec. 29. 2012 – Spent the 2012 season as a member of the practice squad for the Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers before signing a Reserve/Future contract with the 49ers following the season.

COLLEGE – Four-year letterman from 2008-2011 at Penn State. Did not miss a game, seeing action in 52 contests. Named to the Big 10 All-Academic team three times…As a senior, started nine of 13 games and ranked third on the team with 80 tackles…During his junior year, played in every game, with seven starts, and finished third on the team with 73 tackles…Majored in film and video.

 

PERSONAL – Attended State College (Pa.) Area HS where he was rated among the nation’s top-10 DE/OLB prospects in 2006…Named Pennsylvania’s Defensive Player of the Year and Mid-Penn Defensive Most Valuable Player as a senior…Was a first-team All-State selection after notching 60 tackles and eight sacks as a senior in addition to catching 39 passes for 624 yards and eight TDs as a TE/WR…Older brother, Jonathan, is an NFL TE who played for the Buffalo Bills from 2009-2010 and uncle, Jeff Hostetler, is a retired NFL QB…Competed in the 2016 Saints Hall of Fame Golf Tournament and participated in the 2017 Saints Hall of Fame Weekend in Biloxi, Miss…His and his wife’s State of Hope Foundation helps better the lives of underprivileged children in the Centre County, Pa. region, specifically assisting foster families…Stephen Nathan Stupar was born March 14, 1988 in State College, Pa.
