The first round pick of the Saints in 2013 (15th overall), Vaccaro was able to make immediate contributions to the New Orleans secondary as the former All-American at the University of Texas started all 14 games he appeared in as a rookie, totaling 93 tackles (60 total), one sack, one interception, six passes defensed, one forced fumble and three special teams stops before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. The versatile, hard-hitting safety will continue his development on the field, in the weight room and in the meeting room, bringing his versatile talents to the defensive backfield.

Missed week 11 contest vs. San Francisco after sustaining a concussion the prior week. Suffered an ankle injury in week 16 that placed him on Injured Reserve and required surgery…Started and appeared in first professional game at nickel cornerback and posted seven tackles (five solo) and a pass defensed that led to a game-clinching interception by safety Roman Harper in opener vs. Atlanta, Sept. 8…Started at safety and recorded six stops (five solo) and an interception returned for 29 yards while also contributing a special teams tackle vs. Arizona, Sept. 22...Totaled six solo tackles, one pass defense and first-career sack for a loss of eight yards at Chicago, Oct. 6…Earned a career-high 10 stops (five solo) while adding a pass defense at Atlanta, Nov. 21…Started at safety and racked up seven tackles (five solo) and one forced fumble while also posting a special teams stop at Seattle, Dec. 2…Tallied three tackles (two solo) before leaving game in first half with season-ending ankle injury at Carolina, Dec. 22…Placed on Injured Reserve, Dec. 25.

COLLEGE – Appeared in 51 games with 32 starts for the Longhorns, totaling 264 tackles (162 solo), two sacks for minus 16 yards, 16 stops for losses of 59 yards, five interceptions for 19 yards in returns, 21 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two blocked punts and 14 special teams tackles (10 solo)…Earned first-team All-American honors as a senior and All-Big 12 first-team recognition from league coaches in his final two years…Played four different positions including both safety spots…Started all 13 games at free safety as a senior and totaled a team-leading and career-high 107 tackles (60 solo), including four stops for a loss, two interceptions for 19 yards in returns, five passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery…As a junior, started all 13 contests at strong safety and totaled 82 tackles (47 solo), two sacks for minus 16 yards, eight stops for a loss, eight passes defensed and two interceptions…Helped Longhorns lead conference and rank sixth in nation in rushing defense (92.2 ypg.) and 11th in total defense (306.1 ypg.)…Appeared in all 12 games on defense and special teams as a sophomore and finished fifth on the team with 56 tackles (42 solo), also adding four stops for minus 22 yards, eight passes defensed, one interception and a forced fumble, also contributing five tackles (four solo) and a blocked punt on special teams…Helped the Longhorns rank sixth in the nation in total defense (300.2 ypg.) and pass defense (161.6 ypg.)…Appeared in all 13 games on defense and special teams as a freshman and recorded 19 tackles (13 solo), one forced fumble, nine special teams stops and one blocked punt…Physical culture and sports major.

PERSONAL – Attended Brownwood (Texas) HS before transferring to Early HS for his senior campaign…Played six different positions in high school while totaling 235 tackles and five interceptions in three years, also seeing action on offense at wide receiver and running back…Earned both All-State and All-District first-team honors at defensive back…Also played basketball for three years…Uncle, A.J. Johnson, played for the Washington Redskins (1989-94), helping them to a victory in Super Bowl XXVI before spending one season with San Diego (1995)…Brother Kevin, is a junior safety at Texas…Born Feb. 15, 1991 in Brownwood, Texas.
