NFL CAREER – A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Brown has served as the anchor of the Saints' offensive line since arriving in New Orleans as the club's No. 1 pick in 2005. He has served as the chief protector of the quarterback's blind side since sliding over to left tackle in his second season after playing right tackle as a rookie. In 2008, he was voted to his second Pro Bowl, after also being voted to the postseason all-star game in 2006 and being named an Associated Press All-Pro. Brown has been the cornerstone of an offensive line that has allowed a league-low 29 sacks over the last two years, despite the Saints attempting more passes than any other team. Brown immediately stepped in as the starter after being selected 13th overall and was a near-unanimous choice for NFL All-Rookie squads. Considered equally adept at pass-blocking and clearing lanes for the run, Brown has opened all 58 games he has appeared in during his career. Brown was forced out of action in 2009 due to injuries to his hip and a sports hernia and spent the majority of the 2009 campaign on the reserve/injured list.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS – Placed on injured reserve, 9/29/09; Signed to five-year contract, 7/30/05; Drafted by the Saints in first round (13th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft.
