David Hawthorne has played an important role both on the inside and the outside of the Saints defense since signing with New Orleans as an unrestricted free agent from the Seattle Seahawks in 2012. In his third season with the club, the former Texas Christian standout started all 12 games he appeared in and finished third on the club with 112 tackles (65 solo), three sacks, one interception, six passes defensed and one special teams stop. Overall in his seven-year NFL career, Hawthorne has played in 100 games with 78 starts and has totaled 619 tackles (393 solo), 12 sacks, eight interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, 22 passes defensed, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 19 special teams tackles.

Helped Saints post one of league’s top defenses in 2013, as they ranked fourth in both opponent net yards per game (305.7) and scoring defense (19.0). Recorded double-digit tackles in four regular season games and one postseason contest.
