A student of the game, Parys Haralson developed a meticulous work ethic at a young age, working in his grandfather’s junkyard. He joined New Orleans late in the preseason from the San Francisco 49ers and contributed to their outside linebacker corps, appearing in 16 games with eight starts and recording 35 tackles (16 solo), 3.5 sacks and one pass defense. A fifth-round draft pick of the 49ers in 2006, Haralson entered the starting lineup in 2007 and has appeared in 102 career games with 76 starts and posted totals of 330 tackles (186 solo), 25 sacks, five passes defensed, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

2012 – After being acquired by the Saints near the end of the preseason, appeared in all 16 games with eight starts and finished with 35 tackles (16 solo), 3.5 sacks and one pass defense. Recorded one solo tackle in NFC Wild Card Playoff at Philadelphia, 1/4/14, before departing contest with a season-ending chest injury. 2012 – Missed the entire season with a triceps injury suffered in the preseason. 2011 – Started all 16 games and finished with 39 tackles (23 solo), two sacks and a career-high three forced fumbles...Started both postseason games and finished with five tackles (three solo) and one pass defense...Registered a forced fumble on each of his two sacks of QB Tavaris Jackson vs. the Seahawks, Sept. 11, for a loss of 24 yards, marking the first two forced fumbles of his career, with both of them resulting in takeaways...Posted his third forced fumble of the season vs. Cleveland, Oct. 30, stripping the ball away from QB Colt McCoy in the fourth quarter as time expired.  2010 – Started all 15 games he appeared in, missing game at Green Bay, Dec. 15, with an ankle injury...Finished with 69 tackles (33 solo), four sacks and a career-high two fumble recoveries...Brought down QB Matt Ryan twice at Atlanta, Oct. 3, marking his first two-sack performance since 9/7/08 vs. Arizona...Recovered first fumble of the year and third of career vs. Philadelphia, Oct. 10...Recorded eight tackles and recovered a fumble that led to a 49ers FG in the second quarter at Carolina, Oct. 24. 2009 – Started all 16 games and finished with a career-high 73 tackles (42 solo), five sacks, two passes defensed, one fumble recovery and six special teams stops...Sacked QB Kurt Warner at Arizona, Sept. 13, for a six-yard loss and later pressured Warner into throwing an interception to CB Nate Clements in the third quarter...Tallied eight tackles and tied a career-high two passes defensed at Minnesota, Sept. 27...Pressured QB Jay Cutler into throwing an interception to S Dashon Goldson vs. Chicago, Nov. 12...Set a career-high with 11 tackles, while registering a sack, at Seattle, Dec. 6. 2008 – Appeared in all 16 games with 10 starts and finished with 57 tackles (35 solo), a career-high eight sacks, two passes defensed, a fumble recovery and seven special teams stops. Sack total tied for second among NFC linebackers and were the most by a 49er since DE/LB Andre Carter’s 12.5 in 2002...Had then career-high two sacks vs. Arizona, Sept. 7...Notched five tackles and 1.5 sacks vs. N.Y. Jets, Dec. 7. 2007 – Appeared in all 16 games with 11 starts after LB Manny Lawson was lost for season and posted 52 tackles (32 solo), 2.5 sacks and 11 special teams stops...Made first career start at N.Y. Giants, Oct. 21, and totaled seven tackles...Recorded three tackles and first career sack at Seattle, Nov. 12, when he dropped QB Matt Hasselbeck for a four-yard loss in second quarter. 2006 – Appeared in seven games and posted five solo tackles as a reserve before being placed on Injured Reserve with a torn pectoral muscle…Played in first career game vs. St. Louis, Sept. 17, after missing most of training camp with a foot injury.

COLLEGE – Three-year starter on the defensive line at Tennessee, finishing career ranked fifth in school history with 21 sacks, topped only by Reggie White (32, 1980-83), Leonard Little (28, 1995-97), Jonathan Brown (25, 1994-97) and Todd Kelly (22.5, 1989-92)...Started entire senior season at LDE and earned second-team All-SEC selection by the AP after recording 45 tackles, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 8.5 sacks...Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminology.

 PERSONAL – All-American selection as a senior at Madison Central (Madison, Miss) HS...Also was a two-time Class 5A All-State selection and a three-time All-Metro choice...Helped Madison Central to a state title his sophomore season with a 15-0 record...Diligent work ethic was installed at the age of 14, when while growing up in Flora, Mississippi, where his uncle had him work with him at Sun Belt Bolts and Screws until he was 18 years old...After that, he labored in his grandfather’s junkyard, helping him instill the blue-collar foundation he leans on as a National Football League player...Aspires to start his own foundation to benefit the children in his hometown...Is looking to run a football camp, teaching kids the importance of eating healthy and staying in shape, while instructing proper football techniques...Born Parys Sharron Haralson, September 24, 1984 in Flora, Miss.
