NFL CAREER – Mitchell joined the Saints late in 2010 to add depth to their linebacker corps and on special teams. COLLEGE – Began college career at Georgia before transferring to South Florida following redshirt freshman season…Didn’t have to sit out season because USF was NCAA Division I-AA at the time…Appeared in 42 games (39 starts) for USF, amassing a school record 367 tackles (230 solo)…Also produced 37 tackles for loss, eight sacks, nine pass defenses, three forced fumbles, two recoveries, two interceptions and a 56-yard touchdown on a fake punt…Started 10 games at MLB as a senior, posting a school single-season record of 117 tackles (72 solo) including a team-record 19.0 stops for losses.

PERSONAL – All-state selection as a senior at Lake Howell (Fl.) HS…Named Class 6A Player of the Year senior year…Recorded 110 tackles (74 solo) and rushed 41 times for 225 yards with five touchdowns as senior…Full name is Kawika (pronounced kuh-VEE-ka) Uilani Mitchell…First name translates to David…He and wife Billie have a son, Lewai (pronounced Levi) and a daughter, Eliza.
