In his first season in New Orleans, Erik Lorig recovered from an ankle injury suffered in training camp to handle lead blocking duties for the final 10 games of the season with seven starts. Acquired as an unrestricted free agent from Tampa Bay in the offseason, he carried three times for four yards in his first career action as a rusher and posted nine receptions for 27 yards with one touchdown. The 6-4, 250-pound bruiser has appeared in 66 career games with 31 starts and has posted 39 career receptions for 217 yards with one touchdown and has contributed 17 special teams tackles.

Served as a lead blocker in each of Mark Ingram’s four 100-yard performances…Caught a four-yard touchdown and helped block for a 122 yard rushing performance by Ingram at Pittsburgh, Nov. 30…Started all three games vs. Green Bay, Oct. 26, at Carolina, Oct. 30 and vs. San Francisco, Nov. 9, when Ingram rushed for at least 100 yards in each contest. 2013 – Appeared in 15 games with nine starts for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and caught 11 passes for 47 yards...Inactive for Week one contest at New York Jets, Sept. 8…Hauled in a 20-yard reception vs. Arizona, Sept. 29…Caught three passes for 14 yards at Seattle, Nov. 3…Grabbed two balls for five yards at St. Louis, Dec. 22. 2012 – Played in all 16 games with seven starts for the Bucs, posting 12 receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown. Served as a lead blocker for running back Doug Martin, who rushed for 1,454 yards with 11 touchdowns, breaking the team’s rookie rushing record, finishing third in the NFL with 1,926 total yards from scrimmage and being selected to the Pro Bowl…Hauled in a career-high four receptions, tied for first on the team, for 21 yards in season opener vs. Carolina, Sept. 9...Posted at least one reception in four straight games from Weeks 6-9…Recorded one catch for one yard and first-career touchdown in a win at Oakland, Nov. 4…Started and caught one pass for 12 yards in a win at Atlanta, Dec. 30. 2011 – Appeared in all 16 games with seven starts serving primarily as the lead blocker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Finished with six receptions for 53 yards…Caught two passes for 12 yards at New Orleans, Nov. 6…Caught one pass for a career-long 22 yards at Jacksonville, Dec. 11. 2010 – Spent time on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad after being selected in the seventh round…Changed positions from defensive end to fullback/tight end following the team’s Week four bye, Oct. 3…Appeared in nine games with one start and caught one pass for 10 yards. A blocker in a productive rushing attack that helped rookie running back LeGarrette Blount rush for 1,007 yards as Tampa Bay improved from 4-12 in 2009 to 10-6 in 2010…Made NFL debut at Cincinnati, Oct. 10…Started first career game at fullback vs. Carolina, Nov. 14…Hauled in first career reception for 10 yards at New Orleans, 1/2/11.

COLLEGE  – Spent first two seasons at tight end for Stanford before switching to defensive end for his final three seasons in 2007. Started 25-of-29 games at defensive end and saw action in 12 games at tight end…Two-time Pac-10 All-Academic…Team co-captain and named to the Ted Hendricks Award preseason watch list as a redshirt senior. Recorded 95 tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks in 2009…Started all 12 games at right defensive end as a redshirt junior, finishing with 39 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups and a forced fumble while being named All-Pac 10 Honorable Mention…Appeared in all 12 games with eight starts as a redshirt sophomore in first year as a defensive player and tallied 37 tackles, 7.5 stops for a loss and two sacks…Saw action in all 12 games primarily on special teams and as a backup tight end as a redshirt freshman in 2006 and caught three passes for 21 yards…Graduated with a degree in public policy.

PERSONAL – Earned Cal-Hi Sports, Parade Magazine, PrepStar and SuperPrep All-America honors as a senior for Palos Verdes Peninsula (Rolling Hills, Calif.) HS. Also the two-time Cal-Hi Defensive Player of the Year...Played on the varsity for three seasons and totaled 350 tackles, 19 sacks, 42 tackles for loss, five interceptions and four defensive touchdowns while also playing tight end and totaling 950 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns…Associated Press Scholar, California Scholarship Federation and Principal’s Honor Roll member…Very active in the community, visiting hospital patients, singing Christmas carols to retirement home residents, teaching students the importance of health and fitness and visiting Metropolitan Ministries to prepare food and spend time with kids while in Tampa Bay…Hosted bowling event for foster children and accompanied the Boys and Girls Club of Orlando to a theme park in 2010…Born Erik Lorig on November 17, 1986 in Rolling Hills, Calif.
