At the start of the 2015 league year, the Saints acquired this sideline-to-sideline player to bolster the linebacking corps. In his first season with the Black and Gold, Ellerbe played in six games in four starts while fighting hip and toe injuries and accumulated 45 tackles (39 solo), one pass defensed, his first career forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens out of Georgia in 2008, the versatile linebacker has played in 68 career games with 34 starts and has totaled 338 tackles (249 solo), 6.5 sacks, three interceptions, one forced fumble, four fumble recoveries, 13 passes defensed, 18 special teams stops and one coverage forced fumble.

2015 – Appeared in six games with four starts, missing 10 games due to hip and toe injuries, but proving to be effective when on the field. In all, posted 45 tackles (39 solo), a pass defensed, his first career forced fumble and a fumble recovery…Missed the first three games of the season (toe)…Made his Saints debut vs. Dallas, Oct. 4, recording a solo tackle…Started at WLB at Philadelphia, Oct. 11, tallying 12 tackles (11 solo) and one pass defensed…Started vs. Atlanta, Oct. 15, and posted a career-high-tying 14 tackles, including a career-high 12 solo stops. Added his first career caused fumble and a fumble recovery…Started and tied for the team lead with seven tackles (six solo) at Indianapolis, Oct. 25…Inactive for the next five games with a hip injury…Saw action on defense and recorded six solo tackles at Tampa Bay, Dec. 13…Made the start at WLB vs. Detroit, Dec. 21, and tallied five tackles, three of which were solo tackles…Missed the final two games of the season with a hip injury. 2014 – Started and posted two solo tackles in season opener vs. New England, Sept. 7, before being placed on Injured Reserve (hip). 2013 – Started 15 games in first season in Miami. Ranked third on Dolphins with a career-high 101 tackles (70 solo) and added five passes defensed, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a sack with five games of double-digit stops. Led team in tackles six times and finished second twice…Made Dolphins debut in starting role and tied for team lead with six tackles at Cleveland, Sept. 8…Led team with 14 tackles at Indianapolis, Sept. 15…Tied for team lead with eight tackles and recovered a fumble at New Orleans, Sept. 30…After missing one contest (shoulder), returned to starting role at New England, Oct. 27, and led team with 11 tackles…Had four tackles, four passes defensed and one interception of Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton vs. Cincinnati, Oct. 31…Led the team with 11 tackles and a sack of Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon at Tampa Bay, Nov. 11…Had an interception off a Geno Smith pass with 32 seconds left in the first half to set up a Caleb Sturgis field goal with nine seconds left in the half at N.Y. Jets, Dec. 1. 2012 – Played in 13 regular season games with seven starts for the Baltimore Ravens and recorded 89 tackles (66 solo), 4.5 sacks for 29.5 yards in losses, two passes defensed, three special teams stops and a coverage forced fumble. Started all four playoff games as the Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII and finished tied for second on the team with 32 tackles (25 solo) and also recorded two passes defensed and one interception…Registered eight tackles, 1.5 sacks for 12.5 yards in losses and a special teams stop vs. New England, Sept. 23…Led team with 12 tackles (nine solo) and had a pass defensed at Houston, Oct. 21…Tied season-high with 12 tackles at Pittsburgh, Nov. 18…Missed three games (ankle)…Returned to the starting lineup and led team with five solo tackles for a defense that held Giants to 186 total net yards and 20-percent (2-of-10) on third down vs. N.Y. Giants, Dec. 23…Ranked third on team with nine tackles (eight solo) in the AFC Wild Card Playoff Game vs. Indianapolis, 1/6/13…Netted nine solo tackles in 38-35 double overtime victory in the AFC Divisional Playoff Game at Denver, 1/12/13…Produced five tackles, one pass defensed and first-career postseason interception in AFC Championship Game at New England, 1/20/13. 2011 – Saw action in nine regular season games with three starts and recorded 17 tackles (13 solo) and one special teams stop. Played in two playoff games with one start and recorded six tackles (three solo)…Started his first game of the season in place of an injured Ray Lewis and had three tackles vs. Cincinnati, Nov. 20…Led team with seven tackles at Cleveland, Dec. 4…Started and posted three tackles in the AFC Championship Game at New England, 1/22/12. 2010 – Played in 11 regular season games with a start and recorded 29 tackles (22 solo), a sack for a loss of 13 yards and a pass defensed. Played in two playoff games and recorded seven tackles (five solo) and a forced fumble…Posted six tackles and first career sack vs. New Orleans, Dec. 19, dropping Saints quarterback Drew Brees for a 13-yard loss…Had six tackles and one forced fumble in Divisional Playoff Game at Pittsburgh, 1/15/11. 2009 – Saw action in 13 regular season games with three starts as only undrafted free agent to make the Ravens’ opening-day 53-man roster for a squad that finished second in the AFC and third in the NFL in total defense. Recorded 55 tackles (37 solo), four passes defensed, a fumble recovery, a 28-yard interception return and also netted eight special teams stops.
