John DeShazier: With Armstead inactive, Andrus Peat likely will move to left tackle

Posted Dec 31, 2017

Rookie defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad is active

Tampa, Fla. – There were no surprise inactives for the New Orleans Saints (11-4) on Sunday as they prepared to face Tampa Bay at Raymond James Stadium, one victory away from securing the NFC South Division title.

New Orleans’ early inactives were left tackle Terron Armstead, tight end Michael Hoomanawanui and defensive end Trey Hendrickson, and they were joined on the gameday inactive list by running back Jonathan Williams, center Cameron Tom, receiver Austin Carr and defensive end Kasim Edebali, who just rejoined the team last week.

Armstead’s absence likely means that Andrus Peat again will start at left tackle, and Senio Kelemete will slide in for Peat at left guard.

Edebali’s being inactive did clear the path for defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad to be active for the fourth time this season. Muhammad is expected to help on special teams and be in the rotation along the defensive line; Hau’oli Kikaha was placed on injured reserve last week, creating the need for some defensive line support.
