Saints vs. Eagles, third quarter update: Saints 20, Eagles 14

Posted Jan 4, 2014

Teams are playing wild-card game at Lincoln Financial Field

Third quarter update: The New Orleans Saints got their offense on track in the period as Lance Moore scored on a 24-yard touchdown reception with Drew Brees and Mark Ingram followed that up with a powerful 4-yard TD run as the Saints lead the Eagles 20-14 after three quarters.

The Saints' defense continued its sterling play in the period as Cam Jordan and Junior Galette combined on a sack of Nick Foles and on another possession forced him into a intentional grounding call. The Eagles have fewer than 200 yards of offense through three periods.

The Eagles did put together one scoring drive in the period, a seven-play, 65-yard drive capped by a 1-yard TD run by LeSean McCoy. The big play on the drive was a 40-yard pass from Foles to DeSean Jackson. The completion happened right after Saints cornerback Keenan Lewis was forced to leave the game after getting shook up making a hard hit.

Key stats: Saints, Drew Brees, 16 of 25 for 187 yards with one TD and two interceptions; Mark Ingram with 15 carries for 91 yards. Eagles, Nick Foles, 16 of 24 for 147 yards and a TD; LeSean McCoy, 16 carries for 55 yards and a TD.
