Saints, Pelicans urge fans to be aware of counterfeit tickets

Posted Dec 4, 2013

NFL Ticket Exchange powered by Ticketmaster is the best place to buy Saints tickets on secondary market, NBATickets.com Resale Marketplace powered by Ticketmaster is the best place to buy Pelicans tickets on secondary market

With two highly anticipated, soldout games being hosted in New Orleans in the coming days, the New Orleans Pelicans and New Orleans Saints urge fans to be cautious when purchasing tickets on the secondary market. The New Orleans Pelicans host the Oklahoma City Thunder at the New Orleans Arena on Friday at 7 p.m. Two nights later the New Orleans Saints will host the Carolina Panthers in a nationally televised contest at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (7:30 p.m.).

The Saints and Pelicans have seen a significant increase in fans being turned away at the gates due to having counterfeit tickets or experiencing other ticket issues with secondary providers that result in fans being unable to enter games.  So far, the Saints have seen an average of 100 fans per game turned away due to fraudulent tickets and other secondary ticket problems.

“We have seen a growing number of issues with tickets purchased on the street or online through secondary ticket sellers other than NFL Ticket Exchange,” said Michael Stanfield, senior vice president of sales for the Saints and Pelicans. “Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do for fans who have purchased counterfeit tickets or who have any problems, including lost or damaged tickets, with seats not purchased directly from the team or through NFL Ticket Exchange. Based on the demand we have for these games, we really want to urge fans to be careful and protect themselves from being disappointed or taken advantage of.”

While many of the fraudulent tickets sold may appear to be authentic, each legitimate ticket includes bar codes and other security features that cannot be duplicated. In order to protect their customers from theft or fraud, the Pelicans and Saints ticket offices are only able to assist those who purchase their tickets from the organizations directly or through NFL Ticket Exchange for Saints ticket and through NBATickets.com Resale Marketplace for Pelicans with any ticket problems they experience -including lost or stolen tickets

NFL Ticket Exchange is the only Official Ticket Exchange of the Saints and the NFL where 100% of tickets are verified by Ticketmaster. NBATickets.com Resale Marketplace is the only resale site where Pelicans tickets are authenticated and verified by Ticketmaster.
