Playoff Flashback: NFC Divisional Playoff, Saints 32, 49ers 36

Posted Dec 31, 2013

The Saints fell to the 49ers 32-36

After trailing by as many as 17 points, New Orleans rebounded to take a 32-29 fourth quarter lead, but a 14-yard TD pass from QB Alex Smith to TE Vernon Davis with nine seconds left ended the Saints’ season at the hands of San Francisco. The 49ers got off to a 17-0 start but a pair of Drew Brees TD passes dropped the halftime deficit to 17-14. A 49ers field goal was the only scoring of the third quarter and following a 37-yard field goal by San Francisco K David Akers midway through the final period, the two clubs would score two touchdowns apiece. RB Darren Sprolesset a postseason single game NFL receiving record with 15 grabs for 118 yards with a fourth quarter 44-yard touchdown.
