Player Connections

*Saints OLB Junior Galette played at Temple from 2006-08, posting 7.5 sacks as a junior in 2008 and earning second-team All-MAC plaudits.

*Saints nose tackle Brodrick Bunkley was a first round draft pick of the Eagles in 2006 and played in Philadelphia for his first five NFL seasons.

*Saints wide receiver Marques Colson prepped at Susquehanna Township (Pa.) High School, where he lettered four times in football and was a three-year member of the track team.

*New Orleans guard Jahri Evans prepped at Frankford (Philadelphia) High School and then played at Bloomsburg from 2001-05.

*New Orleans fullback Jed Collins was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Philadelphia in 2008 and spent part of his rookie season on the club’s practice squad.

*Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins prepped at Piscataway (N.J.) HS, where he led the team to three consecutive state titles playing wide receiver and defensive back. Jenkins and Eagles safety Kurt Coleman patrolled the same secondary at Ohio State.

*New Orleans defensive end Tom Johnson played for the Arena Football League’s Philadelphia Soul in 2008.

*Eagles defensive tackle Bennie Logan prepped at Red River (Coushatta) High School and starred at Louisiana State University.

*Saints running back Mark Ingram and Eagles defensive tackle Damion Square were college teammates at the University of Alabama. Ingram’s father Mark Ingram Sr., played for the Eagles in his final NFL season in 1996.

*New Orleans nose tackle John Jenkins and Philadelphia cornerback Brandon Boykin were college teammates at the University of Georgia.

*Both Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles are graduates of Westlake (Austin, TX) High School, with Foles breaking school career records for passing yards and passing touchdowns, previously held by Brees.

*Brees, running back Darren Sproles and Eagles assistant tight ends coach Justin Peelle were teammates in San Diego.

*New Orleans inside linebacker Curtis Lofton and Peelle were teammates in Atlanta from 2008-10.

*Saints center Brian de la Puente and defensive end Cameron Jordan both played with Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson at the University of California.

*Jordan and Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks were later teammates on the starting defense of the Golden Bears from 2008-10.

*Saints defensive end Tyrunn Walker and Eagles wide receiver Damaris Johnson were college teammates at Tulsa. Johnson starred at Destrehan High School, where he was MVP of the state title game and a three-year starter, as well as a standout in baseball and basketball.

*Saints safety Roman Harper, Eagles guard Evan Mathis and linebacker DeMeco Ryans were college teammates at the University of Alabama.

*Saints tackle Charles Brown and Eagles quarterback Matt Barkley were college teammates at  USC.

*New Orleans kicker Shayne Graham, Eagles linebacker Connor Barwin, tight end James Casey and punter Donnie Jones were teammates with the Houston Texans in 2012. Jones prepped at Catholic (Baton Rouge) HS and played at Louisiana State.Graham and Eagles quarterback Michael Vick were college teammates at Virginia Tech.

*Saints tight end Benjamin Watson and Eagles safety Patrick Chung were teammates in New England in 2009. Graham and Chung were teammates with the Patriots in 2011.

*Saints wide receiver Kenny Stills and Eagles tackle Lane Johnson were college teammates at the University of Oklahoma.

*Saints assistant head coach/linebackers Joe Vitt is a Blackwood, N.J. native who served as linebackers coach for the Eagles from 1995-98. Vitt tutored Eagles assistant defensive backs coach Todd Lyght with the Los Angeles Rams from 1992-94.

*New Orleans Defensive assistant/linebackers Brian Young and Lyght were teammates with the St. Louis Rams in 2000.

*Saints head coach Sean Payton served on the Eagles coaching staff from 1997-98 as their  quarterbacks coach.

*New Orleans defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is the son of former Eagles head coach Buddy Ryan, who led Philadelphia from 1986-90, compiling a 43-35-1 record, taking them to the postseason his final three campaigns.

*Saints quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Mercyhurst College from 2002-05. He tutored the defensive line and served as strength and conditioning coordinator at Bucknell in 2000.

*Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael and Eagles head coach Chip Kelly served on the same staff at the University of New Hampshire in 1994 with Carmichael helping tutor the offensive line and Kelly coaching running backs.

*Saints wide receivers coach Henry Ellard tutored Eagles wide receiver Brad Smith with the New York Jets from 2009-10.

*Philadelphia defensive coordinator Bill Davis served on the Atlanta Falcons staff from 2001-03 with Saints defensive line coach Bill Johnson.

*New Orleans tight ends coach Terry Malone and Philadelphia outside linebackers coach Bill McGovern were teammates at Holy Cross and later served on the same staff at Boston College in 1996 along with Philadelphia assistant head coach/defensive line Jerry Annizaro. Malone tutored Philadelphia WR Jason Avant when he served as offensive coordinator at Michigan.

*Philadelphia inside linebackers coach Rick Minter tutored the defensive ends at Louisiana Tech in 1979.

*Saints secondary coach Wesley McGriff and Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland served on the same coaching staff at the University of Miami (Fla.) from 2007-10.
