New Orleans Saints players deliver Thanksgiving meals at Dryades YMCA

New Orleans Saints players delivered more than 1,000 turkeys to families in need Wednesday

New Orleans Saints players delivered Thanksgiving cheer to local families in need at Dryades YMCA on Wednesday.

Saints players were greeted with fans lining the barricades, taking pictures and chanting their names.

Each year at the start of the holiday season, Saints players gather for their annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Giveaway. This year, Saints players donated the funding for more than 1,000 Thanksgiving meals, with shopping totes donated by Copeland’s. All food items were purchased from Winn-Dixie.
Fullback Jed Collins said he couldn’t ask to give back to a better community.

“It’s great to give back to the city that supports us,” said Collins. “Today is about doing what New Orleans does best and that’s helping each other out.”

Collins was joined by teammates Cameron Jordan, Akiem Hicks, Thomas Morstead, Brian de la Puente, Lance Moore, Tim Lelito, Terron Armstead, Kenny Stills, Senio Kelemete, Marcel Jones, Bryce Harris and Kevin Reddick.

Jordan loves getting to interact with fans and see the smiles on their faces during and after these events.

“I do a lot of events. But honestly, it warms my heart getting to come out here and give back to the community,” said Jordan. “It’s not enough, but having the power to put smiles on people’s faces is a great feeling.”
