New Orleans Saints announce roster moves

Team signs tight end Garrett Griffin, waive Mitchell Loewen

The New Orleans Saints announced Monday, June 6 that they have signed tight end Garrett Griffin and have waived/non-football injury defensive lineman Mitchell Loewen. The announcements were made by Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis.

Griffin, 6 feet 4, 240 pounds, comes to the Saints after a four-year career at Air Force. The Louisburg, Kan., native appeared in 44 games with 17 starts over his collegiate career, posting 41 receptions for 670 yards (16.3 avg.) and eight touchdowns. In 2015, Griffin caught 12 passes for 208 yards (17.3 avg.) and three touchdowns over eight games played with seven starts, missing the first five games of his senior season with a knee injury.
