New Orleans Saints Terminate the Contract of Jahri Evans

Jahri Evans was a 6-time Pro Bowler for the Saints

The New Orleans Saints have terminated the contract of G Jahri Evans, it was announced by Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis.

"Since we drafted Jahri 10 years ago as a fourth round draft pick from Bloomsburg, he was an immediate contributor and integral part of the football team," said Loomis. "Jahri was a mainstay on the offensive line and became one of the best guards in the National Football League as being named to six consecutive Pro Bowls indicates. We would like to thank Jahri for all his contributions both on and off the field to the Saints and the New Orleans community and wish him the best of luck going forward."

Evans started all 153 games he appeared in for the Saints at right guard, and completed the 2015 season tied for 10th on the club's all-time games played list. He started all 11 contests in which he was active for the Saints during the 2015 season. A powerful run blocker and polished in pass protection, Evans enjoyed six of the most decorated seasons for a Saints offensive lineman as he was voted to the Pro Bowl following each season from 2009 to 2014. A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Evans was originally a fourth-round pick (108th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft out of Bloomsburg University.

"Jahri has been a fantastic player for our team and an integral part of our success over the last 10 years," said Saints Head Coach Sean Payton. " He's one of the toughest and smartest players I have ever been around in coaching and that coupled with his unselfishness and dependability made him one of the most respected players in our locker room.  When we arrived in 2006, he was a part of our first draft class, which became the foundation for our 2009 championship team."
