New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Friday that the team signed wide receiver Preston Parker and defensive end Jay Richardson to reserve/futures contracts.

Parker, 6-0, 200 is a two-year NFL veteran who originally signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He’s appeared in 27 games over the past three seasons for the Buccaneers and has posted career totals of 44 receptions for 596 yards with three touchdowns, three carries for 11 yards, 23 punt returns for 210 yards (9.1 avg.), 30 kickoff returns for 617 yards (20.6 avg.) and ten special teams tackles. Parker enjoyed his most productive NFL season in 2011, when he appeared in all 16 games and posted 40 receptions for 554 yards with three touchdowns, while also handling kickoff and punt return duties for Tampa Bay and posted four special teams stops. The Delray Beach, Fla. native joined Tampa Bay after recording 52 catches for 789 yards and six touchdowns at North Alabama in 2009, where he earned a degree in social science. Parker spent the first three years of his college career at Florida State, where he led the Seminoles in receptions during his sophomore and junior seasons.

Richardson, 6-6, 280 is a four-year NFL veteran who was originally picked by the Oakland Raiders in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. He’s appeared in 55 career games with 22 starts, posting 117 tackles (87 solo), seven sacks and two pass defenses in three seasons with the Raiders and one with the Seattle Seahawks. Before joining the Raiders, Richardson appeared in 39 games for Ohio State and posted career totals of 52 stops, seven sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and nine pass defenses.
