New Orleans Saints 2017 season recap: Michael Thomas

Thomas finished the regular season No. 3 in receptions among NFL wide receivers.

The New Orleans Saints offense had high expectations for Michael Thomas after he caught 76 percent of the balls thrown his way for 1,137 yards in his rookie season (2016). Coming back with a year of experience and eight more pounds of muscle, Thomas rose to the occasion. In 2017, he became the No. 1 target for Brees and finished the regular season No. 3 in receptions (104) and No. 7 in yards per game (77.8) among the league's wide receivers.

BEST GAME:In the Week 14 game against the Atlanta Falcons, Thomas caught a game-high 10 passes for a game-high 117 yards (tied for season-high), including a season-long 35-yard grab with one touchdown.

Thomas finished with 104 receptions, setting the team's single-season receiving record, and became the second player in NFL history to have 90 receptions in each of his first two seasons (Odell Beckham being the first player) and set the NFL record for most receptions in the first two years of a career. The Ohio State product was selected to the 2018 Pro Bowl and was voted as the Pro Football Focus Second Team All-Pro wide receiver.

In only his second year, @CantGuardMike lived up to his nickname.

BEST QUOTE: "If it's requested or if they're putting me in position and the opportunity presents itself, I have to get it done. At the end of the day, I want to be that guy that touches the ball a lot of times, I want to make plays for this team, I want to move the chains."
