Mark Romig begins his career as Saints public address announcer

A passing of the microphone occured Sunday as Mark Romig began his career as Saints public address announcer while his father, Jerry Romig, was honored prior to kickoff for his contributions during his 44-year reign.

Mark is a New Orleans native, lifelong Saints fan and currently the president and CEO of the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corportation and an active member in the community.

Mark was settling into his new seat in the renamed "Jerry Romig House Control Booth" an hour before the game. There was a smile on his face and a new sense of excitment in the air as he was preparing for his debut. It was evident that Mark has paid great attention his father over the years as he continued with his style and signature calls, “It’s Good!” and “Colstonnn!”

During the pregame presentation, Jerry was greeted with a standing ovation from the 72,348 fans that filled the Merecedes-Benz Superdome as he waved emotionally from the 50-yard line with his wife Janice by his side after a commerative video was played on the video board.
