Saints offensive guard Jahri Evans and Saints mascot Gumbo spent time at Harry Hurst Middle School on Oct. 23 teaching students about Halloween safety. Local policemen and firemen presented to the students and spent time talking about the importance of safety while they’re trick-or-treating.

“We have been doing this safety program for a while and we do it for the kids in the community. It’s great to have the Saints out here supporting our program,” said HMS Principal Steven Guitterrez. “Halloween is a night that kids are out on the street and we want to have a lot of people here to learn about being safe as they are trick-or-treating.”

The event gave students from Norco Primary, Norco Elementary, New Sarpy Elementary and Ethel Schoeffner Elementary the opportunity to dress up and participate in their own ‘trick-or-treat,’ while also learning about safety on Halloween night. The students also enjoyed performances by the HMS cheerleaders and Runnerettes.

To attend, students had to bring one canned good to kick off the HMS’s Harvester’s Thanksgiving Food Drive.
