Fans vote defensive line as most improved Saints defensive position group in 2013

Posted Jan 24, 2014

DE Cameron Jordan led the team in sacks for 2013 with a career-best 12.5

New Orleans Saints fans voted the team’s defensive line as the most improved defensive position group for 2013 in a poll on the team’s website Thursday.

Of the 580 votes, the defensive line earned 45 percent of the vote followed by the secondary (41%) and the linebackers (9%).

The Saints defense was the NFL’s most improved unit since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, giving up just 305.7 yards per game compared to 440.1 in 2012, a 134.4-yard-average improvement.

A highlight of the Saints defensive line improvement in 2013 was DE Cameron Jordan. The third-year Saint had a breakout season by earning 64 tackles (31 solo) to rank second on the line in stops and a team-leading 12.5 sacks as he was selected to his first career Pro Bowl.
