Students at Morris Jeff Community School were in shock and awe when they were paid a surprise visit by New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan on Thursday afternoon.
Jordan, donning his 2014 Pro Bowl jersey, teamed up with Rotolo’s Pizzeria for the visit to stress the importance of reading and education through their Literacy Program.

Jordan explained that his father, Steve, was an NFL player and his parents held him to a very high standard in the classroom even more so than the football field.

The Saints defensive end went on to say that growing up he wanted to be a lawyer and enjoyed reading many books, including his favorites about dragons.
“It’s good to be back talking to the kids,” said Jordan. “Everybody knows I do this weekly during the season and when I’m back in New Orleans I’m always looking to give back in some kind of way.”
The students participated in a question and answer session with Jordan and asked him many questions, including who the best player on the team is and what kind of sneakers he was wearing.

The students had the chance to answer questions about the visit to receive a Saints 2013 Yearbook, which then turned into a dance contest involving Jordan, teachers and students (Jordan was victorious).
