75,000 towels to be distributed for the Saints-Panthers Sunday night game

Posted Dec 7, 2013

New Orleans Saints seek to break loudest crowd roar at an indoor sports stadium

Seventy-five thousand towels will be distributed at the New Orleans Saints’ "Sunday Night Football" game against the Carolina Panthers on Dec. 8 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

“I think, man, this is one of the special things that we have going for us and it is one of the reasons we play so well at home," Saints Coach Sean Payton said Saturday about crowd noise in the Superdome. "The fan that really understands that we can impact the outcome of the game, that is pretty powerful. Let’s find out who has the loudest stadium in the NFL.  There is only one way to do it. Let’s see how we measure up. Anything we can do to make that environment an advantage for us and difficult for our opponent, and especially in a big game like this, we are going to lean heavily on our home crowd. They have been outstanding and I am sure tomorrow night it will be exciting.  I am anxious to see what they register, whatever that is measured in.  That is a big plus for us.”

The Saints encourage fans to arrive early and rock the Superdome all night for the the NFC South showdown as a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® representative will be in attendance to monitor if the fans can break “the loudest crowd roar at an indoor sports stadium.”

The current record is 126 dBA, which was set by fans of the Sacramento Kings at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento on Nov. 15, 2013.
