49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh talks about loss to Saints

Posted Nov 17, 2013

'The greater the challenge, the greater the glory'

San Francisco 49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh spoke to the media following Sunday's 23-20 loss to the New Orleans Saints:

On the personal foul against Ahmad Brooks:

“I talked to Ahmad. Ahmad didn’t think that he hit him in the head.”

On the game:

“It was a well played game. I thought that both teams really fought hard. It was a very competitive ballgame.”

On how his team moves forward after a tough loss:

“I thought that they played their hearts out and kept fighting. It’s a tough loss, but we’ll keep playing, playing hard, playing fast, and playing tough. That is what our guys did. I am proud of them for that. I thought that they left it all out on the field. I thought that they played their guts out.”

On the play of Colin Kaepernick:

“I thought that Colin played very well. He was very accurate. He was fighting just like everybody. He was very aggressive and made some big-time throws. He made a big-time play on the interception to get the ball back for us.”

On the 49ers' running game:

“It wasn’t as productive as it needed to be. It was just a tough, physical game.”

On if he thought his team could score on their last possession:

“Yes. That was our objective. They (the Saints) got the sack and fought back. We came up short on it (the possession).”

On who he talked to in the booth when he decided to challenge two plays:

“I was talking to Eric (Mangini). We didn’t have a video review on the first one. (On the second challenge,) we knew he was in. We knew there was a question on whether the ball was bobbled, and we decided to challenge it.”

On this year being challenging:

“The greater the challenge, the greater the glory. That’s the way that I look at it. I am proud of our guys the way that they fight. If we continue to fight like that, we will win a lot of games.”
