The 2013 season marks Lance Moore’s eighth year as a New Orleans Saint. This will also be the first year that Moore, 5 feet 9, 190 pounds, enters the season as the most experienced receiver on the roster.
The University of Toledo product spent most of the 2005 and 2006 seasons on the club’s practice squad, but has evolved into a leader in the Saints’ wideout rotation. Moore holds career totals of 309 receptions for 3,824 yards with 36 scoring grabs, in addition to two carries for seven yards and another score. He has also brought back 18 kickoffs for 354 yards (19.7 average) and 44 punts for 382 yards (8.7 average). His 36 overall touchdowns ranks fifth in the club record books.
In 2012, Moore appeared in 15 games and finished ranked first on the club in yards per catch (16.0 average) with 65 receptions for a career-high 1,041 with six touchdowns. Last season marked the first time Moore surpassed the 1,000-yard mark.
Moore on Moore (March 22, 2013):
“Each and every year we change some things but most of it remains the same. With Drew, and I say this all the time, but with him it makes it easy for us to go play. We don’t have to worry about doing anything extra or having any extra pressure because we are worried whether the quarterback is ready or doesn’t have the timing the way it should be. Having those guys around so long, it’s kind of unprecedented to have a group together for that long. It’s pretty cool and a credit to Coach (Sean) Payton and his guys for keeping us together for so long.”
