10 things Saints fans need to know about the Buffalo Bills

Posted Nov 7, 2017

Bills are undefeated at home this season

1. The Buffalo Bills lost to the New York Jets Thursday, Nov. 2 putting them at 5-3. The Bills are one of only six teams in the AFC right now over .500.

2. The Bills were 7-9 last season and have not made the playoffs in 17 seasons. They are the only American professional sports team that has not made a playoff appearance in the 21st century.

3. The Buffalo Bills are without wide receiver Zay Jones (knee), tight end Charles Clay (torn meniscus and sprained MCL) and cornerback E.J. Gaines (hamstring) starting their week of practice Monday, Nov. 6. However, the week and a half of extra recovery time could mean the Bills could have their entire starting lineup healthy for Week 10.

4. The Buffalo Bills acquired wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin from the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 31. Benjamin practiced in pads with the Bills for the first time on Monday, Nov. 6 in preparation for the New Orleans Saints.

5. Bills safety Micah Hyde has become a standout for the defense. Hyde spent the last four seasons with the Green Bay Packers and has started every game since being a part of the Bills. Hyde has had five interceptions, second most in the NFL, eight pass deflections and 35 tackles.

6. Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been in the league seven years, three of them with the Bills. Taylor has completed 154 of 236 passes (65.3 percent) this season and averages 6.9 yards a completion.

7. The Bills are 4-0 at home and 1-3 in road games. Eleven of the Bills 17 takeaways have come in home games and their point production in home games is close to double what it is on the road. In four road games Buffalo averages 15.2 points per game. At home they average 27.7.

8. Running back LeSean McCoy is ranked No. 11 in the NFL in yards per game. McCoy has rushed for 546 yards and three touchdowns. McCoy is also a threat in the passing game with 242 receiving yards.

9. Buffalo has just six points scored in the first quarter, last in the league.

10. On January 11, 2017, the Bills named Sean McDermott the 20th head coach in franchise history. McDermott spent six seasons as the defensive coordinator of the Panthers (who play the Saints twice a year).
