10 things Saints fans need to know about Washington

Posted Nov 13, 2017

QB Kirk Cousins is third in passing yards

1. After Sunday’s 38-30 loss to Minnesota, the Redskins are 4-5. The Redskins defense allowed the Vikings to score 28 points in the first half, average 10.5 yards per pass attempt, throw four touchdown passes, and convert eight of 10 on third down.

2. Redskins left tackle Trent Williams made his return to the field Sunday in the Redskins’ loss to Minnesota. Williams played through a right knee injury that will require surgery and had sidelined him for the previous two games. Williams started and played every snap against the Vikings.

3. Quarterback Kirk Cousins ranks No. 3 in total yards (2,474) and threw for 327 yards last week. Cousins has been with the Redskins through his six-year professional career.

4. Cornerback Kendall Fuller is tied at No. 4 in the league for interceptions with three. Safety D.J. Swearinger is tied for 20th with two interceptions, both coming against the Vikings.

5. One of the key running backs for the Redskins, Robert Kelley, has a high-ankle sprain, and a grade 1-2 MCL sprain, which leaves Chris Thompson and Samaje Perine as the remaining running backs on the 53-man roster. Thompson is in his fourth season with the Redskins and has rushed for 277 yards this season. Samaje Perine, a rookie from Oklahoma University, has rushed for 210 yards on the year. Kelley is a Tulane product.

6. The Redskins defense ranks No. 26 in third down efficiency and No. 27 in fourth down efficiency.

7. Washington is struggling with injury after getting all of their offensive linemen back last week. In addition to Kelley, linebacker Will Compton has a Lis franc (foot) sprain, cornerback DeAngelo Hall has a bone bruise on his knee, and wide receiver Ryan Grant is in the concussion protocol.

8. Linebacker Zach Brown, in his first year with the Redskins, leads the NFL in tackles  with 96

9. Wide receiver Josh Doctson suffered an injury during his rookie season in 2016. This year, Doctson has had three touchdowns on 15 catches.

10. Vernon Davis, is a threat on the Redskins offense. Davis is No. 5 in the league among tight ends with 460 receiving yards.  Saints fans, of course, remember Davis from his performance in the 2011 divisional playoff game.
