We’re so happy here at Progressive Waste Solutions to partner with the New Orleans Saints to bring this contest to New Orleans area schools for 2015-2016 school year. Recycling is such an important step that we can take to help protect our environment and teach kids about sustainability, and we’re glad to be able to sponsor this contest to reward kids for doing the right thing for the environment. Schools will earn points for not only recycling, but recycling properly by keeping contamination out of the recyclables and keeping recyclables out of the trash. Schools will also earn points for other sustainable actions that they take as well as student involvement. The contest will continue until November 30, 2015. At the end of the program, the top three schools with the most points will be awarded a New Orleans Saints Jr. Training Camp in the spring 2016.
Here are some fun recycling facts:

2. On average, a plastic water bottle only contains 4 cents worth of water. Use reusable bottles and refill them!
3. Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth everyday can save up to 8 gallons of water.
4. Recycling one ton of paper saves enough energy to power an average US household for 6 months.
