Josh Lucas
Area Scout

Entering his third season as an area scout and fifth as a member of the Saints’ player personnel department, Josh Lucas is responsible for evaluating players from the schools located in the southwest region of the United States.

Prior to being promoted to area scout in 2007, Lucas had spent two seasons as a scouting assistant, where he evaluated free agents, tracked player movement and assisted in the preparations for the NFL Draft.

Lucas joined the Saints after working for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2002-04. In his final two years with the club, he was a marketing analyst working on the “Jacksonville 39” project, a marketing initiative that raised funds to finance capital improvements to ALLTEL Stadium. Those renovations were completed prior to the city hosting Super Bowl XXXIX.

In 2002 he was an intern for Jacksonville in football operations, and worked in the player personnel dept. during the club’s 2004 training camp.

Lucas graduated Cum Laude from Harvard University, where he played safety from 1997-98 before a series of shoulder injuries ended his career. A native of North Canton, Ohio, Lucas and his wife, Caryn, were recently married.
