With a background that includes stints as a professional player, coach and scout, Dwaune Jones enters his fifth season with the Saints as an area scout. Hs responsibilities are evaluating players from colleges located throughout the Midwest region of the United States.
A former wide receiver in the NFL and NFL Europe, his prior experience also includes coaching wide receivers for the NFL Cologne Centurions in 2004 and serving as a training camp scouting intern for the Seattle Seahawks that season and in 2005.
Jones was allocated to NFL Europe by Seattle in 2001 and caught 33 passes for 577 yards and five touchdowns for Berlin Thunder. In their World Bowl IX victory over the Barcelona Dragons, Jones caught six passes for 161 yards and a pair of TDs, including a game-winning 53-yard strike from with 4:08 remaining.
Jones also has NFL playing experience with the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans and served as a training camp intern coach in the NFL Europe League in 2003. During his college career at Richmond University, Jones was a three-year starter who hauled in 146 receptions for 1,994 yards and departed ranked sixth in school history with 15 touchdowns. Jones was also a sprinter on the Richmond track team.
