NFL CAREER – Re-signed in the offseason, Evans has been a valuable addition since originally joining the Saints in 2007. Voted one of the club's five season-long captains prior to last season, Evans is among the top special teams players on the roster and also provides proven, veteran depth to the linebacker corps. He has exceeded his career-high in special teams stops each of the last two years, including 20 in 2008. Since being originally being signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Cincinnati in 2001, Evans has appeared in 103 games, with 31 in New Orleans. He joined the Saints after a five-year stint with Houston, where he forged his reputation around the NFL as a top performer on the kick and punt coverage units. Evans' career totals include 107 special teams tackles and three fumble recoveries. On defense, he has notched 39 stops and an interception.
