CAREER TRANSACTIONS – Signed to a four-year contract, 7/25/08…Selected in the second round (40th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.

COLLEGE CAREER – A standout cornerback and four-year starter who is a Louisiana native, Porter is the only player in Indiana history to return a punt, interception and fumble for a touchdown in his career. He had 16 interceptions in his career – including six as a senior – for a school-record 413 yards in returns and a touchdown. Porter grew up in Port Allen, La., and in 2007 was a first-team All-Big Ten selection. He started 43 games in his career, 29 at right cornerback, 13 on the left and one at strong safety. Porter posted 212 tackles (175 solo) while with the Hoosiers, 24 pass defenses, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries for 147 yards in returns, including a 76-yard touchdown. He was also an excellent special teams performer, blocking a kick and returning 35 punts for 477 yards (13.6-avg.) and an 86-yard TD.

2007 – All-Big Ten first-team selection…Started every game, ranking second in the league and tied for 18th in the nation with six interceptions for 137 yards in returns…Made a career-high 83 tackles (63 solo) with a 9-yard sack and 5.5 stops for losses of 18 yards…Recovered two fumbles, returning one 76 yards for a touchdown…Deflected four passes and ranked tied for third in the Big 10 with 254 yards on 23 punt returns (11.0 avg.)…Had a 71-yard punt return vs. Minnesota, the longest in the Big 10 in 2007. 2006 – Earned All-Big Ten second-team honors…Finished fourth in the conference with four interceptions for 53 yards in returns and added eight pass defenses…Caused and recovered a fumble that he returned 71 yards vs. Purdue, and added an interception, three punt returns for 31 yards and four tackles…Returned 12 punts for 223 yards (18.6 avg.) and a touchdown, which would have led the nation but he was two returns below the total needed to qualify…Also blocked a kick and had a 27-yard kickoff return….Opened season with an 86-yard touchdown return of a punt vs. Western Michigan. 2005 – Started all 11 games, playing RCB for the first 10 games before moving to strong safety vs. Purdue…Ranked sixth on the team with 48 tackles and had one forced fumble and a fumble recovery…Had three interceptions for 108 yards in returns and six pass defenses…Had a 63-yard INT return vs. Ohio State. 2004 – Big Ten All-Freshman choice by The Sporting News…Recorded 29 stops, six pass defenses and three interceptions for 115 yards and a touchdown…In first collegiate game, had two interceptions, including 96-yard touchdown return, the third-longest in school history, vs. Central Michigan.

PERSONAL – Attended Port Allen (La.) HS, where he played only two seasons of football, but was first-team all-district as a senior…Second-team all-district as a junior despite missing seven games with a right forearm fracture…Played quarterback, running back and wide receiver on offense and cornerback on defense, where he had 11 interceptions with two TD returns as a senior…Averaged 47 yards per kickoff return and 28 yards per punt return in his final season…Also a prep standout in basketball and track….General Studies major.
