NFL CAREER – A veteran of nine NFL seasons, Spicer brings with him to New Orleans versatility and a rugged, workmanlike nature and determination that has pushed him to success throughout his career. Spicer is a powerful defensive end and has enjoyed success over his 117-game NFL career. Starting 63 of those contests, he has tallied 349 tackles (241 solo), 28.5 sacks, an interception, 19 pass defenses, seven forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He played the last nine years with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and started three playoff games with a sack and seven tackles over that span. Prior to signing with Jacksonville in 2000, Spicer split the 1999 season between the Detroit Lions’ active roster and practice squad after playing with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders of the CFL in 1998. He first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, signing with the Seattle Seahawks in 1998.

2008 – Was a season-long captain for the second straight year and played in all 16 games in his final season with Jacksonville, making 10 starts…Tied for second on the team with 3.5 sacks to go along with 50 tackles, five passes defensed and a forced fumble…Posted a season-high five tackles and split a sack, Oct. 5 vs. Pittsburgh…Sacked QB Derek Anderson and forced a fumble vs. Cleveland, Oct. 26. 2007 – Played in 15 games with 12 starts and led team with 7.5 sacks, 41 QB pressures and a career-high three forced fumbles despite missing majority of the preseason with a back injury…Led defensive line with 50 tackles (36 solo) and added a fumble recovery…Registered five tackles and one sack Oct. 7 at Kansas City and helped defense hold Chiefs to 10 rushing yards, the fewest by an opponent in team history…Posted seven tackles (six solo), one for a loss, one sack, one forced fumble and four QB pressures and earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors vs. Houston, Oct. 14.
