NFL CAREER – Despite suffering an injured thumb in the opener that helped limit him to just five catches for 82 yards by midseason, Colston rebounded over the second half of 2008. Over the final eight contests, the lanky target hauled in 42 passes for 678 yards and five touchdowns, returning to the form he had established in becoming one of the NFL's top targets during his first two seasons. After being drafted by the Saints 252nd overall in 2006, Colston immediately emerged as an impact player. No player in league history caught more passes in their first two seasons than Colston's 168 from 2006-07, and in 2007 he set a team record with 98 receptions. In the 41 games he has played since entering the NFL, Colston has posted 11 contests with over 100 receiving yards, has 25 catches of at least 25 yards and 150 of his 215 career grabs have resulted in first downs. Though he has missed seven games with injuries, his 24 touchdown receptions are tied for eighth in the NFL since 2006. As a rookie Colston was inserted into the starting lineup immediately, and his 869 receiving yards after his first nine games are the highest total in league history for a rookie in that span.
