2008 Audition Information
SAINTSATIONS AUDITIONS!!
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Saintsations, the official cheerleading team for the NFL’S New Orleans Saints!
The Saintsations are one of the premier dance teams in the NFL. Incorporating high-energy routines with professionalism, this elite group has earned the reputation of being one of the most versatile and entertaining squads in the league. Their annual New Orleans Saintsations Swimsuit Calendar and the “behind-the-scenes” television show about the making of the calendar have catapulted the team into regional celebrities.
In addition to performing at NFL Saints home football games, the Saintsations have traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan to visit our troops, and to Mexico City and London to promote the NFL. They have appeared on the Dr. Phil show, 2006 Comic Relief Live Television Show and on National television commercials. They have also appeared in Sports Illustrated, Maxim magazine, FHM magazine, competed in the nationally televised NFL Cheerleading championship, appeared in events surrounding the NFL Super Bowl and competed against other NFL cheerleading teams at the Super Bowl Beach challenge. Additionally, the team supports community projects through the “Saintsations Inspiration Program.” The primary focus of the 2008 program is to promote positive initiatives geared toward women and children.
In essence, this highly recognized and respected group of women serves as goodwill ambassadors for the NFL and the New Orleans Saints organization. Team members perform at many exciting events and make numerous personal appearances including modeling and public speaking throughout the world.
We are looking for dedicated young women who are physically fit, talented in dance/cheer, and are able to present themselves in a professional manner. Because the Saintsations are influential role models to the youth in our communities, we will select women that are committed to leading a healthy, productive lifestyle. Join us as we embark on an exhilarating season with the New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Saintsations! The Saintsations will have a busy and exciting year! REQUIREMENTS:
• Candidates must be at 18 years of age on or by the date of preliminary auditions.
• Proof of age is required (please bring certified copy of birth certificate OR a driver’s license).
• Membership on the Saintsations team is for one (1) year. No preference is given to returning members. All returning Saintsations must re-audition annually.
• Please complete the Application Form, the Medical Release Form, and the Consent Form and bring with you to auditions.
• Those selected for the squad will be required to attend two rehearsals each week. These practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday. Rehearsals will begin immediately. There will be a mandatory training weekend for all team members.
• N.F.L. cheerleaders do not attend away games, but are expected to perform at all home games at the Louisiana Superdome as well as any additional home pre-season or playoff games. Should the Saints play in the Super Bowl, the squad may make the trip. Travel out of New Orleans and appearances for corporate and charitable organizations are cast based on individual availability. All members of the Saintsations Team will need to provide their own transportation to all rehearsals and performances.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTSATIONS
AUDITION PROCESS DESCRIPTION:
(All Steps Are Closed to the Public) There are five steps to the audition process for membership on the New Orleans Saintsations Team.
STEP 1-Registration
Applicants must first complete the audition registration packet. The packet of information can be obtained via the PDF. download at the bottom of this page or by calling our office at 504-232-7670.
STEP 2-Audition Workshop
Tuesday, April 8, 2008- (6:30-9:00pm)
Airport Hilton, 901 Airline Drive, Kenner, Louisiana, 504-469-5000
The purpose of the workshop is to better prepare participants for the audition process. Please note that attendance at this clinic is not required to audition and does not guarantee a position on the squad. However, a great deal of information will be shared as well as an improved understanding of what it takes to make the squad and what to look forward to if you do. You must be 18 years of age by the date of the workshop to attend. Please wear comfortable dance clothes with sneakers/dance shoes because you will also be learning a routine similar to that of the tryout routine. The cost of the workshop is $50.00; however, if you attend the workshop, the $40.00 Saintsations audition fee will be waived. Again, this workshop is optional.
STEP 3-Preliminaries
Sunday, April 13 – Saints Practice Facility,
5800 Airline Drive, Metairie – 9:00 am -till
There are three parts to preliminaries. First, applicants will be required to complete the registration process, which includes registration paperwork, photograph, introduction, personal information (height, weight, and measurements). Second, applicants should come prepared to perform a one minute original dance routine to music of their choice. Music should be on a CD with a back up copy readily available. Thirdly, a brief dance routine will be taught and performed in small groups before the judges. Eliminations will be made at the end of the day. Others will advance to the semi-finals.
ATTIRE: Performers may wear any dance wear for the individual routines. A black solid two- piece ensemble (trunks only, no skirts or pants), flesh colored tights and dance shoes (jazz, character, ballet, etc.) is REQUIRED for the 2nd routine.
NOTE: Only participants and audition staff will be allowed in the facility during the preliminary audition process.

STEP 4-Semi-Final Auditions
Semi-Final Auditions: Tuesday, April 15 and Thursday April 17,

The semi-final auditions will be a two-part process.
Part one: Professional interviews will be conducted with each participant in 15 minutes intervals. Business leaders from throughout the greater New Orleans region will conduct the interviews. Following the interviews, a test covering the NFL will be administered to each participant. Business attire will be required for the interview phase of the audition process.
Part two: Participants will be taught another brief routine to perform in smaller groups before the judges. A black two-piece ensemble (trunks only, no skirts or pants), flesh colored tights and dance shoes should be worn. Eliminations will be posted on-line by April 20. Others will advance to the training camp.
STEP 5-Training Camp
Tuesday and Thursday, April 22, April 24, April 29, May 1–
Franco’s Athletic Club, Mandeville, Louisiana 6:30-9:45
During the Training Camp portion of the audition process, participants will work with the director and choreographer in a more intimate environment. Technical skills will be evaluated along with overall dance performance and speaking skills. A solid black two-piece ensemble (trunks only, no skirts or pants), flesh colored tights and dance shoes should be worn. Eliminations will be made throughout the training camp.

2008 NEW ORLEANS SAINTSATIONS
AUDITION WORKSHOP
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the 2008 New Orleans Saintsations Squad!
The New Orleans Saintsations will host an optional audition workshop Tuesday, April 8th at the Airport Hilton in Kenner.
The purpose of this workshop is to help participants become better prepared for the audition process. Please note that attendance at this clinic is not required to audition and does not guarantee a position on the squad. However, a great deal of information will be shared as well as an improved understanding of what it takes to make the squad and what to look forward to if you do!
This workshop is open to participants only. Guests will not be permitted inside the event facility. Upon your arrival, you will be required to sign a waiver prior to your participation in the workshop. After a brief registration process, a group warm-up will be conducted. Next, you will be taught dance combinations, which will be taught at a slightly slower pace than at try-outs. These combinations will be different from the routines you will learn at preliminary auditions; however they will familiarize you with the style and level of dance ability that is expected of squad members.
The next segment of the program will be a detailed discussion regarding the agenda for the audition days, judging criteria, proper attire, (what colors and cuts look best for the dance audition, resume and photo requirements, and most importantly, some tips on how to have an outstanding interview.
You will also be informed on what to expect should you be selected for the 2008 squad including information on rehearsals, personal appearances, photo shoots, game days, etc. The discussion will end with a question and answer segment.
For the workshop, you should wear dance attire and sneakers/dance shoes. Be sure to bring plenty to drink and a snack. Additionally, it is also important to bring a notebook and pen to take notes during the discussion segment. The most important material you’ll take home with you will be practical and valuable information on the audition process.
