New Orleans Saints rookie defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis is expected to miss two-to-four weeks of action following surgery on his right knee to repair a slightly torn meniscus, according to Saints Head Coach Sean Payton.

Ellis, who missed practice yesterday afternoon, underwent surgery this morning to trim a portion of the meniscus.

"By all accounts the procedure went very well and he should be back in two-to-four weeks," Payton said a short time ago.

Ellis, one of the Saints¹ starting defensive tackles since the opening game of the season, has been credited thus far this season with nine tackles, a sack and a pass defensed.

Payton did not say who would step into the starting lineup in Ellis' absence, but the two most likely candidates would be either veterans Antwan

Lake or Brian Young.
