Q: Can you talk about this week of practice and how you’ve fared this week?
A: “This team is a team that practices hard every week. I’ve never been worried about the way we’ve practiced. We’ve always practiced hard and that’s always been what helped us be so successful last year. This year for whatever reason, things aren’t clicking for us during the game times. We’re working hard during the week. That’s what we do.” Q: Can you discuss your thought on getting the team’s first win? A: “We need to get the monkey off of our back. We’re in a little bit of a slump and we just really want to get this first win, get our monkey off of our back and hopefully we’ll carry on from there. Right now it’s still early in the season. We know a lot of people have probably given up hope on us, but right now, the only thing that matters is people in this locker room.” Q: Have you become more accustomed to your role this week in practice? A: “I know what to expect. I talked to Coach in terms of being the starter and us not having Deuce (McAllister) right now. I know what to expect. I thought I had a pretty good day physically. Other than that, we need to get this win.” Q: Are you prepared to have 30 touches a game? A: “Whatever it takes. If it’s 30 or 40 carries, whatever it takes for us to win a game, I will do.” Q: Can you talk about Seattle a little bit? A: “They’re going to be hungry. They’re going to be looking to take some revenge because they lost that game and are probably bitter about that loss. We’re going to be coming into a hostile environment. The crowd’s probably going to be louder than ever, it’s going to be Sunday Night Football on national television. We really have to play a fundamental game. I think this game for us is not going to be about Seattle. It’s going to be about us. It’s going to be about us going out there and putting together a solid performance.” Q: Do you guys have a whole lot to prove right now? A: “We do. We have a whole lot to prove. At this point we haven’t proven anything. We haven’t shown that we can compete right now. We have to run out there and compete and focus on finishing the game, trying to get off to a good start, but finishing the game.” Q: Is the USC issue difficult to deal with personally with news reports of it returning? A: “Not at all. At this point in time in my life, I just focus on football, the positive things that are going on my life right now and that’s it. I focus on things I can control.” Q: Do you remember hearing about how Carolina’s Kris Jenkins criticized his team severely in the week before you guys met. Has anything happened like that in this locker room? Q: “I’ve only been here a year, but we haven’t had those yet. We’re in a situation where we really need to pick it up and to show that we can win a game and finish a game. I don’t think we need to apologize to any fans. This is football. It’s part of growing pains and overcoming adversity. We just have to focus on the little things and corral around each other.” Q: Do you recall any frustrated outbursts? A: “No, no frustrated outbursts from anybody as far as I’m concerned. That’s the thing that I love about this team so much is that we have a lot of good guys on this team.“
